Spicy & Sweet Tacos

What was for dinner? Just a bit impromptu and of the pacific influence, all wrapped in a tortilla. Inspired by one of the local taco trucks (kogi bbq), my kimchi taco got a little sweet add in tonight — a few Zespri green kiwis. Every so often I get a craving for the spicy cabbage. Dh is usually the one adding the extra spicy ingredients. So, tonight I decided to go spicy-spicy plus sweet!

Another recipe the dh was hesitant to try, but guess what? He loved it and said the kiwi was a really great compliment to the spice. Hooray (shhh, I left the skin on the kiwi. Loads of fiber, couldn’t bare to waste that)!

Kiwi & Kimchi Tacos

Ingredients
1 pound of ground turkey
1/2 onion, sliced
1 small zucchini, diced
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 small red jalapeno peppers, sliced
1 small green jalapeno peppers, sliced
2 tsps of worcestershire sauce
1 small jar of kimchi* (15 ounces or more, depending on desired spice level)
4 Zespri green kiwis, diced (I left skin on, they soften up when sauteed)
corn tortillas
garnish: sliced radish, carrots, cilantro, green onion, shredded cabbage

Prep time: 20 mins
Cook time 15 mins
Makes approximately 10-12 tacos

Heat large pan and add 1 tbsp of olive oil if desired. Saute onion and zucchini for a couple of minutes. Add ground turkey, red pepper, chili, Anaheim peppers and black pepper. Stir and cook until meat is cooked throughout.  Set aside.

In another pan, heat and add kimchi and diced kiwi. Saute for approximately 3 mins. Add in turkey and stir to mix. Remove from heat and serve. Add garnish to tacos.

*I sliced the large cabbage pieces to make it easier to eat.

Soooo spicy but the green kiwi tempers it. These little tacos are packed with flavor!
