I will be the first to say that I do not want the grocery workers to strike. I cringe remembering the last one lasted nearly 20 weeks. My local Vons shelves were barren, temporary employees appeared lackadaisical and it took months for the stores to get themselves back in order.
Vons, Albertsons and Ralphs employees apart of UFCW had planned to walk 12:01 am Monday, however, they are still in negotiation as of 7am this morning, with a conclusion anticipated by noon.
I am hopeful they can reach an agreement but just in case, here are a list of Southern California stores to shop in case it does happen.
Stater Bros: While I am not close to this chain, I love their prices. Great store.
Food 4 Less: Deep discount grocery store. They are owned by Kroger, I was told they will not be striking.
Fresh and Easy: Decent prices, limited variety.
Trader Joes: Great healthier foods selection, I could see shopping here more frequently.
Vallarta Supermarket: Lots of great produce, shop early and the store is usually well stocked.
99 Cent Store: I know. But there do have some items that are reasonably priced.
Grocery Outlet: Limited locations in So Cal, but there are a few out there.
99 Ranch Market: Never been to these stores but have heard positive feedback about their produce prices.
Whole Foods: Great natural food store option if it fits your budget.
Sprouts: Another great natural foods store where you can find grass fed beef and much more.
Costco & Sams: They do not take manufacturer coupons but the savings is in bulk purchases, right?!!
