Sister Schubert’s Pretzel Rolls Review & Giveaway

By on 8-13-2010 in reviews

I am a lover of fresh baked bread. Typically, I purchase whatever brand is on sale or make it from scratch. Prep time is not always on my side with 3 growing teens to feed. Since I am working again, I have to keep a few quick meal options stocked each week.

I recently found Sister Schubert’s  line in my local grocery store. Sadly, I was not able to find the cinnamon rolls, however I picked up the soft pretzel rolls. I was pleasantly surprised. It tastes like homemade goodness and they passed the teen taste test! Besides how quick they were to prepare, they were very yummy fresh from the oven. If you have a house full of guys like me, you will need 2 packages. They go quickly!

Soft Pretzel Rolls – 6 rolls

Sister Schubert’s NEW Soft Pretzel Rolls have a thin, slightly crisp outside and a soft, warm center.  Whether it’s a delicious snack, a soft roll for your favorite slider or a complement to dinner, Sister Schubert’s Soft Pretzel Rolls are a versatile way to enjoy restaurant-quality taste at home.  Visit SisterSchuberts.com for more recipe ideas.

Want to try Sister Schubert’s too? Enter below and 2 FF readers will receive a coupon to purchase one product. Please review giveaway guidelines and check to find out if they sell Sister Schubert’s products in your area before entering.

I was one of the bloggers selected by T. Marzetti Company and Family Review Network to host a Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls giveaway. They provided me with product to test myself as well as prizes for my readers. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

OrganicaPure Review

By on 8-13-2010 in reviews

Have you ever snapped off a leaf from an aloe plant? It can be a bit of a mess, not to mention slimy.
It may be just my plant but it has a mild odor when I break it open too. So, I tend to avoid using it.

So, when I was asked by OrganicaPure to review their product, I was curious about the fragrance.  After they arrived and I tried them, here’s what my initial thoughts were:

Aloe Vera & Honey Organic Shampoo:
Right away, I noticed it has a light scent. My first wash with this shampoo left my hair feeling dry and did not seem thoroughly clean. I have fine hair but a lot of it. I thought one pump would be enough but it did not seem like enough.

I gave it another try and used a couple of pumps to get a nice lather. I have to say, I am really happy I did. My hair feels so clean and has shine. The cons: it is a bit high in price especially since I have to use more to get the lather. Also, the pump was a bit flimsy. It popped off a few times, but it was easy enough to reattach.

Mint Cocoa & Honey Organic Body Lotion:
Again, the scent is great! The  mint and cocoa is subtle,  the body lotion is a little thick but once I started massaging, it smoothed right in. It dries fairly quickly and feels light on my skin. I would definitely consider purchasing the both items.

The folks over at OrganicaPure sent over these items for me to review.
My opinions are solely my own.

From the OrganicaPure site:
Cocoa is an anti-wrinkle agent: It contains powerful anti-oxidant properties that prevent damage to your skin’s elastin and collagen, restoring and maintaining your youthful glow. It also works to moisturize and nourish your skin. Honey is also a gentle, healthy, natural moisturizer. As a humectant, honey helps your skin retain moisture without an oily buildup. Cocoa and honey work together in this luxurious body lotion to gently replenish moisture, while the mint revitalizes your skin.

Hotel Chocolat Review & Giveaway
( pronounced shok-o-LA)

The kids have been getting an advent calendar every year since they were young. Usually inexpensive but nonetheless a fun little gift to help count down the days until Christmas. This year, I received three items to sample from Hotel Chocolat.

First, the delicious dark chocolate advent calender (similar to the photo below). Besides the health benefits of dark chocolates, the quality and taste of the cocoa is superb.

Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendars
I really liked the way these were done. After you pop them out, you can read the greetings on the front. Very ornate and detailed pieces. Not to mention delicious! The box design was very elegant. With the one I received, I could picture gifting it to co-workers and friends. Not to mention, they have ones for the kids as well, see the link above. Get them in time for the 12/1 countdown!

Tiddly Reindeer Chocolates
Second were Santa’s helpers. These are adorable and delicious. Great stock stuffer. A dark chocolate a day keeps the doctor away! That is how that goes right?!!

Tiddly Santa Chocolates
Third on the list was these little guys. Caramel and chocolate jolly Santas, I have to say, these were delicious. Next time, I am coveting these little ones to myself.

3 Essential Kitchen Utensils

By on 8-13-2010 in reviews

KitchenAid Box Grater:
A recent purchase I made to replace the Ikea egg shaped grater I bought a few months back. While I have only used this a few times, I like it. It’s a bit sharp. I am thinking I might look into mandolin graters.

Good Cook Classic Safe Cut Can Opener:
How clever is this can opener? No more jagged metal lids, it cuts right below the top!
This opener takes a little getting used to but love it so far.

Vidalia Chop Wizard:
I bought this chopper several years ago as a suggestion from a friend to make quick chopped veggie salads. Honestly, I did not use it for several months. I felt like it was a waste and easier to chop by hand. However, I figured out this is perfect for the nights where you need to chop a bunch of onion, tomato, or other veggies. For example, on taco nights! It does require a bit of a push or ‘slam’ down on the top … Also, the veggies get wedged in the top portion. The set comes with little plastic tool to run through and dislodge the bits.  Works fairly well and gets mostly all the pieces loose.

DIY Tattoo Removal: Removing the in-frugality of the past

By on 8-13-2010 in reviews

This is one of the more interesting DIY things I have researched.  DH has been complaining about a few of his tattoos  he got as a young lad. I have to say, I have tried to understand and even debated a few times but when you love them you love ‘em.

This is for when you are no longer enamored with the once desired body art. I checked around and found this stuff. Seems like it works.

And, it really is as easy as the package says it is once you stop regretting it and start removing It.

Wrecking Balm In home tattoo removal. Plus, it has a risk free trial, thankfully.

Interesting to see how much it takes away…
